Camross Ballroom,

Co. Wexford

This photo comes from the Camross, Co. Wexford website. The small ballroom, a typical rural dance mecca of the 50's and 60's, celebrated it's 75th anniversary in 2001.

Carngrove Hotel, Portadown

One of many hotels across Northern Ireland that held dances two and even three times a week. Most stopped running dances when the tourist trade picked up.

Caroline Club, Glasthule

John Baird sent us this great photo of this County Dublin ballroom. We are not sure of its status today.

Castle Arms Hotel, Enniscrone

The Castle Arms is a 27 room hotel in Co. Sligo's seaside resort of Ennsicrone. Built back in 1964, the hotel has hosted many dance and cabaret artists over the years.

Castle Ballroom, Dungiven

The present building dates from the 1830s' and it has been put to many uses over the years. In the 50s' and 60s' it was run as a popular dancehall, until it fell into disrepair during the 1970's. It is now rennovated as a Hotel called Dungiven Castle.

Central Ballroom, Charlestown

This Mayo venue was one of the best around up through the 1980's. Fortunately, it has been renovated and is now an auto dealership.

Clody Ballroom, Bunclody

Our sincere thanks to Walter Skelton for this picture of the former Clody Ballroom. Now known as "Meadowlands," the ballroom caters to fundraising concerts and parties featuring mostly local bands.

Chimney Corner Hotel, Newtownabbey

The Chimney Corner Hotel is like many hotels in Ireland that runs dances to augment tourist and business income. The hotel still runs dances today.

City Hall, Cork

From showbands to Eric Clapton, the City Hall has seen it all. This was once on of the biggest venues in the South for bands. Today it is still a center for the Arts, but no showbands!

Cloudland Ballroom, Roosky

The Cloudland, like so many others, has been closed for years. This is photo is taken from a report that proposes using the building as a community centre of some type because of its central location.

Coragh Dtonn, Skreen

The Coragh Dtonn is one of those large pubs you find scattered around rural Ireland that have sponsored big band nights in the past, usually mid week.

Corinthian Ballroom, Derry

Like Dublin and Belfast, Derry had many ballrooms in the 60's and 70's. The Corinthian, one of the smaller venues, was renovated in recent years and now hosts some small shops.

County Arms Hotel, Birr

The County Arms is representative of the medium sized hotels that provided patrons with both a more pleasant atmosphere and the amenities that eventually killed off the ballrooms.

Courthouse, Lismore

Courthouse by day, dance hall by night. This popular Co. Waterford venue now serves as the area's Heritage Centre.

Crofton Hotel, Carlow

Michael Brennan sent us this photo of the Crofton Hotel, a popular entertainment venue in Carlow. The entrance was formally the cellar, but the ground was lowered in the 1960's to add another story and today it is the Seven Oaks Hotel.

Cruise's Royal Hotel, Limerick

One of the finest hotels in LImerick's City Centre, this 80 room hotel provided a variety of entertainment for locals during its long history.

Culdaff Arms, Culdaff

The bands to play this venue varied from the rock legends 'Thin Lizzy' and Horslips to the easy listening 'Polka Dots.' The dance hall is now gone but the wall down the side is still there.

Culloden Hotel, Cultra

The Culloden Hotel was built in 1876 and took two and a half years to complete with most of the stone from Scotland. It has been a venue for big bands for many many years.

Cush Inn, Kildangan

This prestigious and historic premises has been updated and now comprises, a bar, lounge, restaurant, two function rooms, conference facilities and a unique indoor children's play area.
