No, TP..It's on a compiliation of Showbands songs.
Re: Edelweiss - I've found another one but I don't think it qualifies. Basil Henriques & the Waikiki-Islanders had it on an album/cd...(I did have to look for that answer) ;) |

Title: Re: New Quiz--While TP's here Post by Trisha on 08/30/06 at 22:21:09
I was being polite to BB! I think the song would have suited Charlie Matthews but I could & probably am...wrong! :P

Title: Re: New Quiz--While TP's here Post by liamo on 08/30/06 at 22:47:44
No. You are correct. Charlie Matthews on the Royal Showband's LP, The Royals Stardust Show. Las Vegas.

Here are a few bits from The Book to tax the brain.First Showband to release an album Second what do The Royal & The Miami have in common re the charts .Third who were the first Showbands to appear at The London Palladium.Who sang backing vocals on Old Man Trouble and Quick Joey Small both number ones back in the 60s. ;D ;D ;D

Title: Re: New Quiz--While TP's here Post by liamo on 08/31/06 at 13:40:28
TP. I think the Capitol were the first showband on Sunday Night At The Palladium. :-[
|
Title: Re: New Quiz--While TP's here Post by Trisha on 08/31/06 at 14:11:13
The Capitol were first, followed by the Miami in 1964.
The Royal & Miami both had no.1 singles 1963. The first band to record a single were the Royal. I know that's not the answer to the first question...I thought I'd just throw that one in ;D |
Title: Re: New Quiz--While TP's here Post by alpineseven on 08/31/06 at 14:13:36
Well you could have the answer to two of the questions as The Capitol made the first showband LP and with The Miami were the only showbands to appear on the London Palladium.
|
Title: Re: New Quiz--While TP's here Post by liamo on 08/31/06 at 14:17:33
The link between The Royal and Miami could be that they both had three members in the charts. The Royal, Brendan Bowyer, Charlie Matthews and the late Tom Dunphy and The Miami, Dickie Rock, Murty Quinn and the late Clem Quinn.
