Title: Dickie Rock Question For One And All
Post by alpineseven on 09/09/06 at 12:57:46
Good morning while going through my Dickie 45s this morning i came across the following piece of useless information. As we all know our Dickie was a prolific recorder back in the 60s and 70s but i just discovered he had to use one of his 60s hits to fill the b side on one of his 70s recordings tut tut not very nice Dickie i assume he must have been coming to the end of his Pye contract and could not be bothered to record something new.Question is please name the songs. :o :o :o

Good Morning TP. Would that be, When You Cry, on the B side of Lollipops, Lace And Lipstick? 8)

Good Morning one & all....I was just going to add that you're correct Liamo but TP beat me to it. - September 1972 was the month & year - just a bit of useless info.... Dickie had two more records with the Pye label ;D

Morning Trisha would The last Waltz be one of them if so what was the other. My own favourite Dickie single was another one which did not chart Uncle Tristans Moonship which i think is a great original Irish beat single would you agree Liamo. ;) ;) ;)

Just doing a bit of a check myself and found that The Last Waltz was indeed his last single on Pye.That single Lot 109 is unique in two ways one was it came with a Picture Sleeve and secondly Pye in their wisdom decided to ditch the K so it was issued as Dickie Roc.It was written and produced by Mitch Murray and Peter Callender two of the top men at the time.I believe this was Pyes last effort to break him in the UK.

Hi Lisa,

You'll be glad to know that Dickie is alive and well and still packing them in all around the country and further afield.
We are playing in Venice Italy on Saturday next (I play bass in his band). On October 2nd we will be playing a concert in Vicar Street in Dublin. This is to coincide with the launch of Dickie's forthcoming autobiography.
What part of the world are you in ? Let me know and I'll find out if Dickie is appearing anywhere near you.

Hope this helps

Barry
