Hi -

'Just wanted to introduce myself.

My dad's folks are from Mitchelstown and are very musical and my mother's kin are from Tralee and also quite musical. :)

It is from them that I got my love of music and they encouraged my musical ability and so now I play clarinet, tin whistle and bagpipes!

My paternal grandfather was a member of the Jimmy Whiley Showband and I would desperately love a photo - any helpers?? :-/

Welcome aboard. I remember Jimmy Wiley's band well and I'm sure someone here can help with info on the band.
BTW. Re. 'Hello Boys"....... We've quite a few of the fairer sex here as well.

there is an old joke, what do you call a gentleman? someone who plays the bagpipes...but doesn't! How cruel. I'm sure you're a lady who knows when to take them pipes out and when to leave them at home!

Was there not an amusing thread some time ago on the dreaded bagpipes ?
Someone once said that there is no discernable difference between someone who can play the bagpipes and someone who CAN'T !!..... "Makes sense to me '
