Title: Help with Belfast venues
Post by Jenny on 04/13/07 at 16:50:50
Hi All,
I work for a Belfast Based TV company.  I could really do with some advice on Belfast dance halls.  I'm trying to find venues that are still standing and that with a bit of dressing could be brought back to life again.  I'm getting on ok with dance halls in other parts of Northern Ireland but Belfast has been so developed I'm finding it hard to find anywhere that hasn't been demolished for flats or a car park. The other problem is that though I have names, I am not sure of the locations of the Halls.  I'm going to list some I'd like to try and find.  If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it and if anyone lives in Belfast and would be free to walk me round to show me some of the old spots that would be great.
Here are some of the venues -
Orchid Ballroom
The Orpheous
Sammy Houstons Jazz Club
Betty Staff's
Thompson's
Starlite (Boom Boom Room)
Maritime/ Club Rado
Grosvenor Hall
I hope someone can help.  Thanks,
Jenny M

Yes, this is great.  I can take a walk about once I know the streets I'm looking for.
Thanks a lot.
