I met my first love at Dreamland Ballroom,Athy,Co Kildare in 1960. Bridie Gavin, Walsh Island, Co Offaly was her name. She stood me up the second night, but I'm over it now
My best Army friend was Michael Byrne also from Walsh Island. He played with the Classic Showband later and was killed in a car accident at a very young age.
