Hi

My dad played the saxophone and sang vocals in this band all around the country. Michael was about five years old and the lead singer!!!

My dad also played in the Concordes.

Anybody remember??

I forgot to add Michael was called the "five year old wonder-boy" and was from Kilcullen Co. Kildare. He dressed in a white sailor suit and his first record "If I could be a sailor man" went to number 1 in the Irish Charts. His next record "But You Love me Daddy" also went to number one, both were on the release records label.

The band were originally called The Concords Showband from Allenwood Co. Kildare and were managed by Sean Judge and Kevin Farrell.

The other members (including my dad) were:
Kevin McCormack
Gerry McCormack
Louis Flynn
Davie Johnson (Inchicore)
Toddy Gannon (Kilkenny)
Barry  Cluskey (Prosperous)
John O' Leary (Prosperous)
Jack Goodyear (Manchester)

Wish I could say I knew of the band, but I don't. Please contact me and let me know more and we will add them to our directory and hopefully even feature them if we can.
Thanks.

I remember Micheal personally because I played in a 'friends' band with him long after the success he had had earlier in his life. I think he avoided the subject with us other band members. We may even have teased him a lot on it too. I can vaguely remember negative newspaper headlines about him referring to his age and school problems etc.He played drums and that impressed me big time. We used to play the 'hippie shake'. We struggled trying to get equipment and it was difficult to get permission to play in the local JFK hall in Kilcullen. His parents were the keyholders. It finally fizzled out mainly because we were just kids. Tony Kelly from Newbridge also played with us and I believe he moved later to England and went professional. If any of them ever come by here it would be cool to get some feedback,
Saoirse

Hello!
My dad has been talking about child star Michael Landers for years, and I'd love to surprise him.Do you know where I could get a copy of his music?

Many thanks, Jackie

If you have a look in the Guest Book on the site, I've just noticed an entry from Michael Landers. This should help.

Those early Michael Landers records were not on the Release label, they were on Ruby Records distributed by EMI.
