DJ joined Brendan Bowyer and the Big 8 a long time ago. As far as I know he lives in Las Vegas. At present I think he is touring in Ireland with Mark Lean "The Emerald Elvis".

Sadly,
in this week's on line edition of Kerry's Eye newspaper
under Eye on Tralee colum, it says that
Kathleen Ann wife of D.J. Curtin died in Las Vegas
age 61
D.J. visits Tralee, his home town on a regular basis.
Great Guy, loved by all his fans,
Grew up dancing to his band
D.J. and The Kerry Blues at the Brandon Hotel in Talee
What a talented family, Alfie, John, D.J. and Billy

May she rest in peace.
I remember seeing her a few times when they lived in Tralee before moving to Vegas.
So sad for D.J. and his family.
R.I.P

I am the youngest daughter, Kathleen, I just posted a general message on the message bored but, for those that are wondering how dad is "doing", he's doing a lot better.  He was having a very hard time for the first few months after the loss of my mom.  Mom found out she had cancer March 17th (St. Patricks day) and she died April 15th, not even a month later.  Mom and dad were to celebrate their 40th anniversary this past June, so it has been a very very hard year for my dad as well as the rest of us, but we have been trying to make sure dad knows how much he means to us,  we try to keep him surrounded by the family, and give him things to look forward to.  He is doing a lot better than we expected, thank God, he is taking better care of his own health now but his heart is broken, the love of his life is gone
and all we can do is share his pain and let him know we love him.  This Christmas is going to be very hard but at least he'll be in Ireland and that will be a good distraction, as long as it doesn't RAIN everyday Roll Eyes

Sorry to hear your Mum died. I knew your Dad and your Mum when the Kerry Blues first came to live in Dublin on Finglas Road. I lived just across the road from them. We went to all their gigs and followed them all over the country. Pass on my smypathy to your Dad. He may remember us ANGELIA, ITA and Nuala. I lived in Decourcey Square.Tell him our thoughts are with him.
