Hello to all.

Marjorie Delaney was a vocalist with the Big 8 for a spell but she also has a CD of her own. I have no title for the CD but I do know that the first track is a song which I think is called "Absent" I am finding it impossible to get any Info about this track. I'm looking for confirmation of the track name, the original artists name & the lyrics of the track.

I know it's a long shot but maybe someone out there knows it.

Here is part of the lyrics.

"Sometimes between long shadows on the grass,
The little truant waves of sunlight pass!
My eyes grow dim with tenderness, the while --
Thinking I see thee smile!

"And sometimes, in the quiet gloom, apart, --
The tall trees whisper - whisper heart to heart...
From my fond lips the eager answers fall --
Thinking I hear thee call!

Any help would be great  Smiley

My dad used to sing this lovely song to my mum - they are both gone now.  I would love to know more about it - who wrote it and how old it is.  I can only remember the tune to the chorus, and if anyone knows where I can get a copy of Marjorie Delaney singing it, I would be very grateful.

I think the last verse goes:
And may the Good God guard you night and day
Guard your footsteps, guard them lest they stray
Till we must meet on God's eternal shore
Then we shall meet love, meet there to part no more.
