Following the death of Dave Glover today no doubt much will be written about him being first Irish bandleader to call his band a SHOWBAND.

Although the timing is a bit off it is a question that has intrigued me for years.

I have evidence of a band from the same neck of the woods as Dave being called a SHOWBAND as early as July 1955.

This fits easily into the time frame that Dave claimed he first used the name in Ireland.

Without wanting to detract from a great and sadly now deceased showman , what is the evidence that he actually was FIRST??

Anyone out there with   cuttings from newspapers from that period or even posters ??
