Hi all,

Does anyone know of any showbands who went through a period dressed as 19th C sailors? Sort of Nelson's navy or pirate?
I'd really appreciate finding out. I have vague memory of seeing some publicity shots /posters but can't think who they were.

great site by the way.

not sure about an irish "showband" dressed as pirates but in 60s a band over here in england formed as johnny kidd and pirates sadley johnny was killed in car crash near where i live the pirates carried on and i am sure they are still touring at times,
i don't know if this is same band you are thinking of.
they did dress as pirates and johnny had eye patch
try and google them see what happens.

Hi Trixie,

Thanks for getting back so quickly. Perhaps it was Johnny and the Pirates after all. I had some memory of an Irish or London Irish group who also played with Jack Tar/pirate look but maybe my mind is playing tricks.
