Based on our research, it appears the Kilmacowen Carnival took place only once, in 1957. The 8 day event
featured 8 dances, but excluded Saturday night (as was the custom in those days, for fear of being late for
Mass Sunday morning. Bands were booked from Cork, Waterford, Tralee and Dublin with only one local
band featured on Sunday afternoon.
