Built in 1969 by Tommy Horam, owner of Horan's Hotel in  Tralee, the Atlantic Ballroom in Ballybunion opened its doors
on May 31st, 1969 with the sounds of Cork's Dixies Showband. The ballroom was reported to have the capacity for 2,500 to 3,000 dancers.
The biggest bands in the country played there for many years. The last gig we could find was in 1989.
After being closed for many years in 2002, it was demolished to make way for a 72 unit apartment development (seen below).
