County Ballroom (Tulsk Inn), Tulsk, Co. Roscommon
From Selina Galvin: The Tulsk Inn was built in
1978 by The Lohan family on the site originally was a thatched pub owned by
Robbie Kilgannon,
Robbie had a famous black bird that spoke to the customers called Jacko.
Kilgannons was knocked in 1979 and
The Tulsk Inn was a purpose built ballroom with a wide span so that the dance
floor had no posts or pillars
surrounding it. It attracted all of the great bands including Big Tom. It was
sold in the late 80's.
We bought it 9 years ago and my husband and I recently restored the ballroom as
it was in disrepair.
We now have music weekly and everyone loves our dancehall. .
