My mom and dad met at a dance in London during WW2.  The ballroom had three balconies.  The ballroom was also in a war time movie.  I wish I knew the name of the movie. It was a beautiful place.
I saw a picture of it, (the three balconies) in a book of ballrooms, at a book store years ago.  The picture was a wide shot, of the top balcony with all the Gi's and ladies that were there.  I think one may have been my dad.

I would love to know the name of the ballroom and movie, or book, if any of you know.  Also, if it is still there or was destroyed during the war.  It is haunting me not knowing.  My parents are dead now.  Maybe any WW2 veterans might remember.  I have searched WW2 London, London ballrooms and everything I can think of but can't find it.  Thanks for any help.  Mary

The Ballroom you write of is the Hammersmith Palais
London W6    Built around 1918 and was famous for the GIs
as their base was just west of London down the road
My Aunt met her GI husband there and moved to the States
Hope this information might help  and the Pali   still stands

for now
