It has to be the Magill Five Showband who I think were from Clondalkin. There lead singer went on to join The Hillsiders from Manchester. I think he dyed a few coupla years ago.

No right answer so far and no i did not get it out of a book.Danced to these guys in the early 60s before then went off and became a showband.I know of the single and it comes with a PS to boot alas it rarely comes up for sale.Last time on ebay i bid £25 but did not even get a sniff at that price.Seems the Star Club label is very collectable for obvious reasons.I would only use a book if its a reputable source so that would rule out Larrys book of Irish Hits and Spotlights in my opinion. Most of the time i will try and have the actual record in front of me but this is not possible all of the time. So TP, you're saying that you've made up this question from 'memory'? I've found out (through research) that very few Irish bands toured Germany back then....let alone released a record on the Starclub label! Rory & Van Morrison, although in showbands back then, had something different to offer the public - the potential of being briiliant 'Rock' artists was just bubbling under the surface.
So, your mystery band were a group when all this happened? This is confusing me. I asked earliar if they were a group or band. First they're a band & now, according to your last message, they're a group. Make up your mind TP...please!! 8)

The answer is The Crickets Showband.I went on ebay and went into the German site and just keyed in Star Club Singles and lo and behold there is was on vol 3 with both tracks from the single Monkey Time / You're No Good it could not have been easier. The band were from Finglas remember The Drake Inn in the good old days. The track Monkey Time was also recorded by The Capitol Showband.
