Nevada in the 1970's  had a  roadie called  Martin cousin of Nevada trumpeter Wilie Walsh, who was a real character, very much part of the extended band family. He did a brillant job, great sense of humour and even persuaded me  to stand  at the back of the  Tara Club in Dub to check the sound system! Thanks for the reminder of one of the most important members of many bands, rarely thanked or recognized for their hard work. In The Magic Band, I got paid an extra 10 quid to help Jimmy O'Neill (brother of Joe and former member of Murphy and the Swallows) our road manager, set up and take down the gear. Jimmy is a great guy and as we travelled alone with the gear, we shared a lot of time together. He gave me an education I will never forget about the band scene in the late 60's and early 70's and he had great stories about the "good old days." Jimmy helped make my experience with the band something I will always cherish...thanks Jimmy!
