I think Joy was one of those unfortunate people who suffered because of the showbands. Her rise to fame was similar to artists like Colm Wilkinson and Cathal Dunne. In all three cases, because they won a contest, it was immediately assumed they needed to have a band on the dance circuit. Although great performers, neither Cathal or Colm ever really made it on the dance scene and went on to different success on stage or cabaret. Since I didn't hear about Joy again, I will assume she returned to her "real life." Maybe someone else out there (like Joy herself) will contact us and let us know what happened!
