Jim Aithken the Belfast promoter has died at the age of 72.
He has been noted recently for bringing international artistes such as Cliff Richard, Elton John and the Eagles to Northern Ireland. However he started out back in the sixties managing Showbands. One of his major bands was The Plattermen during the Rob Strong era. Fair play to you Jim, you were a truely brilliant manager with your head for business and your ability to get the best from your charges. You will be sadly missed by all in the industry, Rest in Peace.
